As an Associate Professor in the Department of Critical Care at MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC), Dr. Malik is primarily involved in direct patient care in the medical and surgical intensive care units. Her clinical research and quality improvement interests involve sepsis in cancer patients. At MDACC, Dr. Malik is chair of the Institutional Sepsis Advisory Committee which seeks to improve outcomes for cancer patients with sepsis. Dr. Malik is also the chair of the Texas Medical Center (TMC) Sepsis Collaborative, which is a multi-institutional collaboration with a mission to connect, collaborate, and galvanize the TMC institutions in adult and pediatric sepsis care, research, and outcomes. Dr. Malik also serves as a member of the Steering Committee for World Sepsis Day under the auspices of the Global Sepsis Alliance (GSA). Additionally, she is the Coordinator for the GSA Advance program, which is a coalition of sepsis experts and supporters around the world who help advance GSA’s mission.
