Sepsis: Across the Continuum of Care – Sepsis in Older Adults
December 18, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST
Date: Tuesday, December 18, 2019
Time: 2 pm ET/11 am PT
People over 65 years old, particularly those who have health issues, are more susceptible to sepsis than any other group. According to a study published in 2006, while people aged 65 years and older make up about 12% of the American population, they make up 65% of sepsis cases in the hospitals. This session will discuss the pre-acute phase from symptom onset to diagnosis and associated patient and caregiver experiences with symptom appraisal, self-management, barriers, and inter-personal interactions.
